Arc Flash Hazard Analysis
MSA, Hanford, Washington
The Akana/VNSFS team was the prime consultant performing Arc-Flash Hazard Analysis on several facilities located at the Hanford Site. These former industrial facilities (e.g., laundry, vehicle maintenance, etc .) were converted to office space when the Hanford Site mission changed from nuclear material production to cleanup. Electrical service to these buildings was originally designed to support high-voltage equipment. The electrical service was retrofitted and not replaced to accommodate lower voltage requirements for the new uses. Akana and VNSFS evaluated potential arc-flash hazards associated with the high-voltage service for each assigned building. Additional work included design of new building electrical systems to address any potential hazards that were identified in our report.
